What is it?

The MBS is an Ireland Asia work-study scholarship programme for those who want a career in international business in one of the world's fastest growing regions and is sponsored by leading Irish and Irish connected companies and supported by the Farmleigh Fellowship, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Enterprise Ireland (valued at €30,000 per participant).

 

How does it work?

You will spend time identifying market opportunities for your sponsoring company, generating an Asian business report, building networks & studying for a Masters in Asian Business awarded by UCC and delivered in partnership with  one of the world’s leading business schools at NTU Singapore.

What will I get?

  • International Business Experience - Firsthand experience of international business in one of the world's fastest growing regions.
  • A Masters in Asian Business – Combining modules on Asian culture, politics, models, etc from UCC with world class business modules from its MBA programme at the business school at NTU in Singapore (Ranked No.3 in Asia).
  • Scholarship Funded - This covers the cost of tuition at UCC and NTU, one return flight from Dublin to Singapore, international travel & health insurance, health checks and student visas.
  • A Career in Asia - Excellent job opportunities and a chance for a full time job placement with your sponsoring company for those candidates that deliver.
  • Your Own Business Mentor - You will also be assigned a highly experienced business mentor from the local Irish Diaspora.

Where will I spend my time?

Three Months in Ireland

You will spend three months in Ireland at UCC where you will gain a broad understanding of the fundamentals of Asian culture, politics, economics and business to prepare you for your work experience in a multi-cultural Asian environment.

Nine Months in Asia

This will be followed by nine months in Asia with four months at the Business School at NTU where you will take modules from its MBA programme providing you with the best current practices for doing business in the region and five months with your sponsoring company in Singapore or other locations across Asia such as Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, New Delhi, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Manila, etc. The location will be determined by your sponsoring company.

What are the funding requirements?

You will need to cover your accommodation and day to day living costs for your time in Ireland and in Singapore. Accommodation and travel costs for participants who undertake work-placements or business trips outside of Singapore will be paid for by your sponsoring company.

The MBS is open to experienced professionals and graduates in all disciplines. We are looking for outstanding people who want a career in international business and who have the drive and ambition to help radically expand the business engagement between this region and the world of Irish business.
